Highland Creek: Abundant Living
Highland Creek is one of the most popular master planned developments in the Charlotte metro area with nearly 13,000 residents. Often referred to as Charlotte’s “Crown Jewel”, Highland Creek straddles the cities of Charlotte and Concord as well as the counties of Mecklenburg and Cabarrus. Situated between highways I-77 and I-85, it is considered to be one of the most easily accessible communities in the entire Charlotte area.
This gorgeous and meticulously planned community includes a number of neighborhoods with a variety of home styles and prices.
Neighborhoods include Signature Ridge, Crosspointe, Masters Hill and Montrose. Each section within the community has separate entrances and amenities. The individual villages are tied together by many walking trails, winding and intersecting throughout the subdivision.
There are over 4,400 homes in the development which is made up of condos, townhomes and single family residences. Homes range in size from 1200 to 1300 square feet for condos and townhomes to between 3000 and 4000 square feet for the larger single family residences. There are all sizes in between.
The condos and townhomes typically include 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms while the single family homes may include 4 or more bedrooms and bathrooms. The splendid, mature, well maintained landscaped lots range in size from one-quarter to one-third acres in size.
You can usually find condos and townhomes ranging in price from about $120,000 to $130,000 and up. In 2016, the median price home was about $205,000 with an average price per square foot of $105.
Highland Creek is an attractive community in part because of the vast array of amenities including a golf course and club, five community swimming pools, parks, playgrounds and walking trails.
A paradise to golfers, the 18-hole championship course was designed by Clifton, Ezell and Clifton. The golf course has been rated one of the most challenging in the Charlotte area. With Bent grass greens and Bermuda fairways, the course was designed to take advantage of and preserve the natural beauty of the landscape. Five lakes and meandering creeks create water features for many of the holes. In 2014, the course was rated as one of Charlotte’s hardest courses.
The practice facility includes a driving range, large putting green, chipping green and bunker for practicing your sand game. A 15,000 square foot clubhouse has both men’s and ladies locker rooms and restaurant with full bar. The dining area overlooks the 18th hole and nearby lake, making a nice setting for tournaments, outing and corporate events.
Highland Creek boasts two well appointed clubhouses available on a regular basis to residents for special events, meetings, family gathering, parties and other functions. The Highland Creek Fitness Center is located at the Highland Creek Sports Club on Clarke Creek Parkway. The Fitness Center includes treadmills, elliptical and rowing machines.
There are four major parks in the community with several pocket parks in the various villages. Most of the parks have playground equipment and other amenities such as basketball courts, volleyball courts and tennis courts.
